It’s the last fall collection! I will blame it’s late arrival on the fact that it had to be shipped to the middle of nowhere, but considering we still don’t have any snow, it still seems reasonable enough to share a fall collection…I know, it’s weird to follow up the last Christmas gift guide with another fall collection but I figured that was most logical way to do it for last minute shoppers. Not to say you can’t grab the ArtDeco Mythical Forest Collection* as a gift as well, there are some lovely pieces in here!
The ArtDeco Mythical Forest Hydra Lip Booster in Translucent Mountain Rose is a semi-opaque rosy pink lip gloss that has a doe foot applicator and a vanilla scent. This gloss gives a super flattering glossy tint to the lips that evens out the pigmentation making them look fuller and in hiding dry patches. It also feels really moisturizing on the lips thanks to sunflower oil and lupine seed extracts. I usually pass over lip glosses, but I LOVE this one and I will definitely continue to reach for it. It is very lightly tacky, which helps give it longer-than-average wear for a gloss.
I have not yet fallen in love with lip liner, and unfortunately the ArtDeco Mythical Forest Soft Lip Liner Waterproof in 79 Mystical Heart didn’t win me over either. The tip of this berry red liner actually broke and had to be sharpened as I was applying it, which gives you an idea of how soft I find it. That said, the shade is really pretty and opaque, but it can definitely not be worn on its own as it emphasizes dry patches and lines. I also found it quite drying until I topped it with a gloss.
For a slightly unusual twist on liner, there’s the dark grey ArtDeco Mythical Forest Soft Eye Liner Waterproof 97 Anthracite. Although I prefer my liners a little creamier, I will say that once it was applied it did not budge at all. It lasted all day on my lower lashline and mostly on my waterline where nothing lasts.
Of course, you can’t have a seasonal makeup collection without eyeshadow. Well you can, but it would be way less colourful. For fall there’s the absolutely gorgeous ArtDeco Mythical Forest Beauty Box Quattro, which is a whimsical eyeshadow case for storing ArtDeco shadows. I’m really in love with the design.
To go inside your eyeshadow case, there are 6 new shades of ArtDeco eyeshadows, and I have 4 of them. Forest Flower 91A is a mauvey purple with golden shimmer. Mystical Heart 190 is shimmery dark olive green. Mountain Rose 215 is a pale iridescent pink . Matt Mystical Forest 587 is a matte chocolate brown. The shadows aren’t super soft, they are nicely blendable. I really love these types of shades too, as they are slightly colourful neutrals. I also ove how you can swap out the shadows in the case, my only issue is that they do move around and I found that a bit annoying while applying.
For my ArtDeco Mythical Forest eye look I used Mountain Rose on the inner corner, Forest Flower all over the lid and Matt Mystical Forest in the crease. I also use the Anthracite liner on the lower lash line.
Although the shadows were all fairly pigmented in the swatches, but I did find them very difficult to build up on the eye. There was also some fallout when applying as I tried to build them up, so I definitely think the shadows would benefit from a primer underneath. That would also help increase the wear.
Here’s a look at my full face using the ArtDeco Mythical Forest Collection. I topped ArtDeco Mythical Forest Soft Lip Liner Waterproof in 79 Mystical Heart with the ArtDeco Mythical Forest Hydra Lip Booster in Translucent Mountain Rose, and I really love the resulting berry lip look. Paired with the purple leaning shadows, thick black lashes and some highlighter and I feel very glamorous for fall…winter.
It’s been a year and a half since I first tried ArtDeco with their Summer Miami Collection (reviewed here) so it was a lot of fun to try out the brand’s most recent collection. I really love the tones and atmosphere of the ArtDeco Mythical Forest Fall 2015 Collection, but if you only go for one product I’m going to shock myself and recommend the ArtDeco Mythical Forest Hydra Lip Booster in Translucent Mountain Rose.
You can find ArtDeco in select Shoppers Drug Marts, and since this is actually the Fall/Winter collection it should still be available. Is there anything you’re tempted to pick up?
