Although I was most excited to see that the Anastasia Beverly Hills range at Sephora Canada was expanded to include lip products like the lip gloss (reviewed here) and liquid lipstick (reviewed here) it was pretty exciting to see that 85 shades of the eye shadow singles would be available as well. From the range, I received the Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles in Sienna*, Soft Peach*, Star Cobalt* and Victorian*.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles come in 8 different finishes, and if you purchase four you also receive a free, empty eyeshadow quad like the one in this post. It’s made of sturdy black cardboard but lets you see the shades inside and it’s easy to remove the shadows. I actually really like it! You can actually purchase the quad on its own for only $1 which is an amazing deal if you have some palette-less shadows that need a home.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Single in Sienna is a warm terra cotta matte which is highly pigmented. I really love this shade!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Single in Soft Peach is a warm pale peach matte. It’s really smooth and applies gorgeously so it’s great for blending out shades. It can sheer out a little bit.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Single in Star Cobalt is blackened navy with sparkle. It is buildable but you can get more impact by applying it damp, which is true of any of the shades. It does remind me of a night sky, it’s the eye shadow equivalent of OPI Give Me Space.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Single in Victorian is a metallic olive pewter. Although it’s quite pigmented it can sheer out when applied so it would definitely benefit from a primer.
For the above look I applied the Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Single in Victorian all over the lid, and blended Sienna into the crease. I blended out the shadow with Soft Peach which I also used under the brow bone. I used Star Cobalt on the lower lash line, and all smudged it along the upper lash line too (although I patted some Victorian on top to subdue it). I’m also wearing that stunning Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in American Doll on my lips (reviewed here).
In terms of application, there was some fallout when applying these shadows and they also fade a bit quicker than I expected so they definitely benefit from a primer. That said they do blend really nicely!
With 85 shades to choose from you’re bound to fall in love with at least a couple of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles. From the ones I tried, my favourites are definitely the mattes which have a great pigmented formula that’s a lot harder to find in matte shadows.
Have you tried Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadows before? I tried to purchase one of the brand’s limited edition palettes before but of course it sold out. Luckily with these Shadow Singles you can make your own palette!
