Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

I’ve actually had the Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover* awhile, but I really didn’t enjoy it the first time I tested it out so I was sorta avoiding using it again. I guess that basically sums up how I feel about this product.

Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover 2Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover comes in one of those pretty dual-phase bottles that you shake up to combine before using. It creates a really pretty blue sparkly liquid (no actual sparkles) and there’s a small hole at the top I use to get some onto a cotton pad.

Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup RemoverWhile Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover does a decent job removing any non-stubborn type makeup like foundation, I do not find it effective with sort of “longwear & waterproof” variety that it promises. In fact, my non-waterproof (but slightly difficult to remove) mascara took quite a bit of rubbing and a new cotton pad for each eye to get off. As you can tell in the swatches below, the remover worked fine on all the eyeshadows (though a slight shimmer residue remains) but the eyeliner and lip products are definitely not completely gone.Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover 2However, the biggest reason I had for avoiding Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover is the fact that for me it was not gentle at all. This product really burns my eyes and although I tested it on my whole face I will be sticking to use not around my eye-area in the future. Which is not at all impressive for something called a “gentle eye makeup remover”. It also leaves an oily residue on my skin, although I always cleanse afterwards regardless.

Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover 3Honestly, Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover was a total fail for me. Almay is a brand with a lot of great products, but when it comes to makeup remover I would not repurchase this because I don’t think it is that effective, or that gentle.
