An Afternoon on the Patio at The Union Street Cafe in Berwick, Nova Scotia #UnionStreetNS

This visit was hosted, free of charge, by The Union Street Cafe.

I’m back! If you’re wondering why I’ve been gone so long, it has been a chaotic month defending my PhD thesis (I passed!!!) and now I’m preparing for the summer in California. In the midst of all of that, I was lucky to spend a couple hours on a sunny afternoon hanging out on the patio at The Union Street Cafe in Berwick, Nova Scotia with a few blogger buddies. I figured what better way to start back on the blog and celebrate Canada Day weekend than to share a great, local place and a few snapshots from my fun afternoon.

The Union Street Cafe in Berwick, Nova Scotia is an amazing place to eat fresh, local food, and their patio is a gorgeous setting to do it, especially on a sunny day. We started off with some chips and dip–since I have celiac disease I didn’t try the chips, which went in the fryer. However, Union Street Cafe is really gluten-free friendly and can make basically anything that doesn’t go in the fryer GF. I did hear from everyone else how delicious this cream-cheese based dip was though! I had a lovely iced tea.

Here’s a glimpse of the patio set up at Union Street Cafe, prior to all the bloggers arriving! The Union Street is owned by Viriginia Fynes, who also runs the blog Fynes Designs, and she’s got a full post on her blog showing the full details of the gorgeous inside of the restaurant as well!

And here’s a glimpse of the amazing spread of food. Union Street Cafe actually also does catering of events and weddings, and if you are holding a lunch nearby I definitely recommend reaching out. This was an amazing platter of things to munch on!

Of course, we had to end the afternoon with some fresh dessert, and while everyone else had some Strawberry Shortbread (which looked amazing) the lovely Union Street Cafe Berwick, Nova Scotia whipped me up some without the shortbread, which honestly, just means I ended up with more strawberries and no complaints there!

Overall, a lovely afternoon and I will definitely be back to The Union Street Cafe for a full meal, but if you’re just looking for drinks and snacks on the patio, I highly recommend as well. Thanks again to Virginia and Union Street for hosting us!
